Quick answer: You have two controls. Placement side, in Menu, sets the side every new referral lands on by default. Invite to left / Invite to right, on the Network page, puts one specific person into one specific slot. Placement is permanent once someone registers, so choose before you share.
Set your default side
Every member has a standing preference for where new referrals go.
Open Menu. On a phone it is the fifth button along the bottom; on a computer, open your own name.
Find Placement side in the Your setup list. It reads "Where a new referral lands by default".
Choose Left or Right.
The change saves straight away and confirms with "New referrals go to your left branch" (or right). Everyone who registers with your ordinary referral link from that moment on starts down that side. Members who already joined are never moved.
If you have never touched this setting, your default is Left.
Invite someone into one exact spot
When you want a particular person in a particular position, invite them into the slot itself rather than relying on the default.
Open Network.
Find the empty slot you want to fill. Free slots are marked Invite to left or Invite to right.
Tap the slot.
Either choose Copy link and send it yourself, or enter their email address, add an optional note, and choose Send invitation.
Both routes keep the placement — the link itself carries the position, so it does not matter how it reaches them. Before you send, the panel shows the Sponsor code and the Placement root it will use, so you can check the spot is the one you meant.
How much does this matter?
Less than most people expect. Your legs fill themselves over time through spillover, from your own referrals and from the people above you, and the binary reward is calculated on your weaker leg every cycle regardless of how the two got there. Unmatched volume is not lost — it carries over. So it is worth knowing where your next member will land, but it is not worth engineering every placement.
The thing that actually moves your rewards is real activity in your network: more members, and more eligible partner purchases among them.

What if the slot fills before my invitation is used? You will see "That side is already filled — pick the other one." Open the Network page again and invite them into a slot that is still free.

Where do people go once both of my own slots are full? Down the side you chose, into the outermost free spot beneath the members already there. That is spillover, and it is why your team keeps growing under you even when you personally have only two positions.
Does the placement side change who their sponsor is? No. You remain the sponsor of everyone who uses your link, whichever leg they land in. Your Direct reward and your personal-referral count are unaffected.
