# Reaching out to people you know: message templates

How to write a first message that opens a conversation, with fill-in templates for a customer and a future affiliate.

A first message only needs to open the door to a conversation. It doesn't need to explain the whole club.

## To someone who might be a customer

> “I thought of you because you \[what they care about\]. I work with ClubAffili, which has a partner programme for \[product\]. Would you like me to show you next time you're looking for \[product\]?”

## To someone who might become an affiliate

> “I thought of you because you're great at connecting with people. I'm part of a free affiliate organisation that can grow with several partner programmes. Would you be open to having a look at how it works?”

## Make it yours

-   Write in your own words. The templates are a starting point, not a script.
    
-   Say why you're contacting this particular person.
    
-   Only mention products that are available today. Check **Overview → Partners** if you're unsure.
    
-   Leave room for an honest answer, including “no thanks”.
    
-   Don't promise earnings or results.
